The ACE Center is an academic and professional administrative unit dedicated to serving and empowering students, faculty, the administration, and employers by泭providing泭access to information and resources. The primary function of the unit is to maintain this access to advising via people,泭resources, and workshops. The ACE Centers long-term goal is to increase outreach and efficiency via investment in the redesign of泭processes and the integration of泭innovative technology.泭The center aims to instill students with a sense of responsibility to themselves, with personal泭organizational skills,泭and with maturity assets that will泭facilitate泭success at泭勛圖tv泭and beyond.泭
The ACE Center is dedicated to enabling泭students to泭identify,泭understand泭and navigate pathways from their泭previous泭experiences and personal passions through their academic interests and on to their career泭objectives.泭Key to this process泭is泭integrated advising: the notion that泭every degree-seeking undergraduate泭student泭benefits from泭the泭assignment of泭both泭a staff advisor泭and泭a faculty mentor, coupled with the recognition that advising is a shared endeavor that泭implicates all 勛圖tv staff and faculty, who support students in泭many ways泭as they travel their pathways泭through 勛圖tv.泭
泭
Students' individual pathways are made up of all their curricular and co-curricular activities. They begin with all the passions, interests泭and experiences students泭have泭when they enter 勛圖tv.泭The key elements of a pathway through 勛圖tv include 1) the student's泭majors and minors;泭2) elective courses;泭3) internships and work experience;泭4) courses taken as part of the core curriculum;泭5)泭additional泭experiences,泭acquired泭skills泭and credentials, including certifications and micro-certifications;泭and 6) other co-curricular experiences. As students' pathways are complex and often non-linear, our泭role泭is to help students泭acquire泭the means to泭navigate these pathways effectively by building intentionally on their often-evolving passions and strengths.
There are two ways to think about the relationships among majors, careers, and pathways:泭subject-oriented泭and泭ends-oriented. Within泭ends-oriented pathways, students plan and select pathway experiences (including the major) with泭specific career aspirations泭in mind. In泭subject-oriented pathways, students' decisions may evolve from their interest in a major or from their泭passions.泭Through the ACE Center, students receive support in approaching their personal pathways both ways.泭

These elements include: 1) passions and interests, 2) existing skill sets, 3) career objectives, and 4) majors and泭majors. These elements can also be heavily influenced by students'泭mentors and peer cohort. Different students are differently impacted by these influences. Some students may be heavily impacted by one or two mentors as they engineer their pathway through 勛圖tv; others may be significantly influenced by all four of the elements above. The term "influences"泭indicates that each of these elements has the potential to significantly impact the construction or navigation of an individual students pathway, which is itself comprised of the six elements listed above.
