AH1020FB9 Writing about ones Art Artists Statements
Unesco listed Bordeaux a World Heritage Site for its remarkable architecture and its rich cultural legacy. The citys most famous son, Michel de Montaigne, invented the personal essay as a literary form. On this trip, we visit Montaignes ch璽teau and take an excursion to a nearby vineyard in Saint-Emilion and the surrounding wine country. We also consider a more modern aspect of the city and stop by the Cit矇 Frug癡s, an innovative complex of social housing designed by revolutionary architect Le Corbusier in the mid-1920s. Other activities include writing and discussions, which, like our stops at museums and historical sites, are designed to complement the
Firstbridge courses Autobiographical Writing (where Montaignes essays are studied) and Writing about Ones Art (which examines artists statements).
