We are delighted that novelist Kathrine Nedrejord will join us to discuss釦硃鳥梗梯娶棗莉梭梗鳥梗喧泭(The Sami Problem), which was awarded the 2024 Brage Prizethe leading prize for fiction in Norwayas well as the 2025 Per Olov Enquist Literary Prize, which recognizes a young European writer on the cusp of an international breakthrough. In their citation, the POE Prize jurorspraise howSameproblemet"challenges the boundaries of what literature can be ... Nedrejord writes sharply and analytically about the long-standing and ongoing oppression of Sami culture, identity, and language. At the same time, it is an unconditional declaration of love to generations of women who have defied experiences of oppression and marginalization, making it a stirring and shocking book in which historical reality clashes with artistic fiction. Nedrejord demonstrates a superb ability to write about the intersections between society and the individual." Kathrine Nedrejord is a writer and playwright. She has Sami with roots in Kj繪llefjord in Finnmark, but has lived in Paris since 2011. She made her debut in 2010 with the novelTransittand has since published the novels 啦娶梗紳眶莽梗梭泭(2014),泭Forvandlinga(2018) andForbryter og punishment(2022), which was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize. Rights to泭釦硃鳥梗梯娶棗莉梭梗鳥梗喧have sold to several countries around the world, including English.
