Fragments of an Infinite Memoryis a uniquely philosophical, erudite, and personal investigation into the internet and modern life. It begins with a forgetful Renouard wishing he could Google the events of his own past. The novelist, translator, and former speechwriter for the French prime minister remembers a time before the internet but has happily adjusted to its central role in our lives. Renouard explores what it means to remember with a tool of such impressive recall at our fingertips, and how this change in the use of human memory has altered who we are.泭Led by students in Prof. Dennis's translation workshop, the discussion will address the nature of the collaboration and conversation between translator and author. For context, we'll look at the first pages of the original and translation ofFragments d'une m矇moire infinie.泭
